In the gas phase catalytic hydrodechlorination of chlorohydrocarbons (I) and/or technical mixts. enriched in (I) with (gas contg.) H2 at 30-350 deg C, up to 50 bar and 0.1-1.5 v/v.hr., a regenerable Pd-aluminosilicate supported catalyst (II), which is Cl-free in the unspent state, is used. (II) contains 0.5-8 wt.% Pd and wt.% SiO2. The Pd concn. in the zone 50-250 mu m below the outside surface of the moulding passes through a max. and the Pd concn. in this zone is 1.5-7 times the average Pd content.
