Method and plant for melting and treating metals

The method concerns melting and processing of metals and alloys (esp. steels) in metallurgical vessels supplied with solid charge materials and electrical energy. The charge material is melted in a vessel and, by means of an at least temporary gas flow through the melt, at least one of the processes decarburisation, dephosphorisation, deoxidation, desulphurisation, alloying and removal of non-metal inclusions is carried out in the same vessel. The two transport paths (W1,W2) of the vessel (5) form a T-shape, and cover a preheating station (9), a slag separation station (14), a first processing station (10) with a heating system and a second processing station (16) for vacuum treatment.
