The method comprises the steps of searching a channel by making a position memory channel as an initial state, and making a real channel as the initial state when a switch is at an auto-mode; checking whether a video signal exists or not after searching the channel; if there is no video signal, searching the channel by increasing the real channel by 1, and then checking that the real channel is the last one or not; if it is not last one, searching the channel; if the video signal exists, storing a channel X in the position memory channel by marking the real channel as X; and searching the channel by increasing the position memory channel and the real channel by 1.
