<p>The steering column has a system limiting the raising of the steering wheel shaft (1) in the event of frontal impact consisting of an internal sleeve (5) fixed to the column body (2). The internal sleeve has a cylindrical part (6), of internal diameter D1, which has a shoulder (7) having a circular opening (8) of diameter D2. The steering wheel shaft has two cylindrical parts (9,10) of different diameters d1 and d2 connected by a coupling (11). The diameter d1 of the steering column shaft is greater than the diameter D2 of the opening. The shoulder of the sleeve and the coupling of the steering wheel shaft are separated from each other by a value L which, when subject to shock, represents the travel of the steering wheel shaft when the coupling abuts against the sleeve shoulder. An anti-theft system (14) comprises a bolt (13) which passes through an axial opening (12) in the cylindrical part (6) of the sleeve.</p> |
