The breathing aid includes a pressurised gas source(10), a transmission circuit having a principal inhalation pipe(14) connected to a mask(19) worn by the patient(20) and a secondary exhalation pipe(28) as well as a flow regulation valve(16) and an exhalation valve(30). The valve(16) has means(52) for maintaining a residual flow under reduced pressure in the principal inhalation pipe(14) during each exhalation phase. The mask (19) includes at least a communication hole (22) from the interior of the mask to ambient air. The value of the residual flow is sensibly equal to the flow loss of the mask through the hole. |
