Method for modifying the quality of images from an electronic imaging device.

The method influences the image quality of images from an electronic image input apparatus in the form of image point signals representing grey values. The images are composed of evenly distributed image points. Image cuttings which surround individual image points are defined for the calculation of characteristic values for modifying the image quality. Only some individual image points are selected from the multiplicity of image points and the associated image cuttings (11, 12, ..., 34) are defined such that the image cuttings completely cover the interesting regions of the image.
