PURPOSE: To provide an electrically weldable fitting formed to directly code its type in the first place. CONSTITUTION: A fitting 1 formed as a welding sleeve 1a having two heating elements 3a, 3b is provided with a plate 10 insertable in a recess in the region of plug contacts 6a, 6b. A resistor 11 and connections 12a, 12b for measuring ohmic resistance by means of a welding apparatus are arranged on the plate 10. The type of the fitting 1 can be confirmed by measuring the resistance.
