<p>PURPOSE:To reuse a masking material by a method in which the surface of the masking material has an affinity with a coating compound to be applied and the material is also coated to be reinforced with the coating film. CONSTITUTION:A masking material 1, which is made of a polymer alloy of PPE and high impact polystyrene, is manufactured by vacuum forming. The material is used for protecting a car bumper 2. A car body with the bumper 2 attached with the masking material 1 is coated with a thermosetting melamine-polyacrylate coating compound. The bumper 2, which is protected by the masking material 1, is not coated, also the air intake 2A of the bumper 2 is not coated. The masking material 1, which is coated and reinforced with a coating film 3, is prevented from deforming during curing at 150 deg.C for 5min. The removed masking material 1, coated with the cured film 3, has good heat resistance.</p> |
