METHOD FOR STABILIZING HARMFUL METAL IN WASTE PLATING SOLUTION AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To stabilize the harmful metal in a waste plating soln. by firing the harmful metal with iron oxide or iron powder and converting the harmful metal to a sparingly-soluble substance. CONSTITUTION:Various metals in a waste plating soln. are precipitated by adding a polymer flocculant to the soln. When the flocculant is added, iron oxide or iron powder is added to the soln. to precipitate sludge, and the precipitated sludge is fired at about 1000 deg.C. The heavy metals (e.g. chromium) in the incinerated sludge is sparingly soluble in water, and the incinerated ferritic ash exhibits high magnetism equivalent to that of the widely used magnetic powder (gamma-Fe2O3).
