PURPOSE:To form a package cushioning body which is inexpensive to produce, light in weight, bearable to great load, high in cushioning performance and easy to dispose after use by fitting a plastic air bag within a tubular body of flexible material. CONSTITUTION:A tubular body 2 is made of flexible material, e.g. the paper of a predetermined thickness, an air bag 3 made of plastic film and filled with air is placed in the tubular body 2 to form a cushioning body 1, which is set at a predetermined place of a packaging case. In this case, a constriction 4 may be formed in at least one intermediate portion of the air bag 3 in the lengthwise direction. Since the deflection force of the tubular body 2 and the air compressive force in the air bag 3 both receive the load of a packaged object or the load from outside, the cushioning body 1, though lightweight, can withstand great load and becomes high in cushioning performance. Also, since the object being packaged or an exterior obstacle is kept out of direct contact with the air bag 3, the air bag is hard to tear. |
