PURPOSE:To provide a production method capable of producing a nitrile from an alkane as the raw material without adding a halogen compound, water., etc., to the reaction system nor using the alkane in excess to ammonia in a high yield. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic of this method for production of nitriles is that an alkane is subjected to gas phase catalytic oxidation reaction with ammonia in the presence of a catalyst represented by the formula; MoaTebXcYdOn [X represents one or more elements selected from Al, Zr and Ti and Y represents one or more elements selected from alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, Ni, Co, Fe, Ce, V, Nb, Ta, W, Mn, Ru, Rh, Pd, Pt, Sb, Bi, B, In, La, P, Cr, Sn, Pb and Cu. in the case of (a)=1, (b)=0.01 to 10, (c)=0 to 100 and (d)=0 to 10. in addition, (n) depends on the oxidation state of other elements]. |
