APPARATUS FOR OZONE GENERATION

An apparatus is proposed for generating ozone from oxygen-containing gases by electrical corona discharge in a space through which the gas flows,the space being defined by a tubular outer electrode and an inner electrode concentrically surrounded by the outer electrode. A dielectric is located between the inner and outer electrode. To increase the efficiency of such an apparatus and at the same time to enable the use of lower voltages, the inner electrode comprises a polygonal bar or polygonal tube havlng more than four longitudinal edges. The ratio of the diameter of the outer electrode to the largest diameter of the inner electrode is not greater than two.
