PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material capable of forming and erasing an image in good contrast and capable of holding an image stable with the elapse of time by adding an electron donating dye precursor and an electron acceptive compd. represented by a specific formula generating a reversible hue change by heating. CONSTITUTION:A reversible thermal recording material is obtained by providing a thermal recording 'layer based on a usually colorless or light-colored electron donating dye precursor and an electron acceptive coupler generating a reversible hue change, that is, color development and erasure in the dye precursor by heating on a support. In this case, as the electron acceptive coupler, a compd. represented by general formula (R<1>-R<3> are a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group and not simultaneously a hydrogen atom 1 and R<4> is a hydrocarbon group) is used and, concretely, N-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-N'-n-hexylmalonamide is designated and the use amt. thereof is about 10-3000wt.%. |
