PURPOSE:To restrain a Y stain from occurring and to reduce color displacements by making bias heat energy of each heating element of a thermal head outside a print area when cyan is recorded, a specific small value. CONSTITUTION:As shown in D, the same number of bias pulses as when a halftone image is recorded are emitted to heating elements in an image recording position. For heating elements in a position where they do not record picture elements, the number of bias pulses is set at as low a value as when magenta is recorded. Thus non-recorded parts are bias heated as magenta is recorded, so an occurrence of T stains can be prevented when cyan is recorded. When a two-value gradation image is recorded, the amount of bias heating of heating elements corresponding to non-recorded parts when cyan is thermally recorded is set at a low value equal roughly to the amount of bias heating when magenta is thermally recorded to restrain Y stains from occurring in the blank portions of a two-value gradation image. |
