The present invention relates to a process for separating printing inks from composite materials, containing at least one printed layer, by treating the composite sheet material with a fluid under conditions under which the sheets remain substantially undissolved and the printing inks and/or the sheet bearing printing inks separate from the other composite film components and, due to their density, rise in the liquid.
