PURPOSE:To easily predict and judge the deposition of scales in a main electrolytic cell, to reduce the deposition of scales and protect the main electrolytic cell by providing a preceding electrolytic cell before the main cell to electrolyze dil. brine. CONSTITUTION:A preceding electrolytic cell 12 to electrolyze dil. brine is provided before a main electrolytic cell 8 to electrolyze the dil. brine to form sodium hypochlorite. The dil. brine is electrolyzed in the cell 12 before being electrolyzed in the cell 8. Consequently, mineral components in the brine are deposited, and the scales are adhered on the cathode side of the electrode. Accordingly, the deposition of scales in the cell 8 is easily predicted and judged from the deposition of scales, and the depositon of scales in the cell 8 is reduced and the cell 8 is protected. Further, the dil. brine to be supplied to the cell 8 is heated by the electrolysis in the cell 12, and the concn. of sodium hypochlorite in the dil. brine is increased. |
