A tool for broaching notches in the screwthreads of a workpiece 50 comprises an annular broaching plate C and a ram 10 having an external thread engaged with the internal thread in a socket B carrying the plate, an adjustable stop D being provided to limit the broaching movement. The tool is pushed down over the screw 50, which is guided by a collar 41, until the stop D abuts the end of the screw. Chips are blown out before a new cutting operation commences by applying an air jet nozzle to an inlet 25. The broach-holder B may be rotated on the ram to eject the work. |
