CONSTITUTION:A specified active carbon is used to remove malodorous hydogen sulfide and ammonia. Namely, this active carbon has a sparingly graphitizable cross-linked lattice in the void of the carbon crystallite, has B to 6B pencil hardness, 100-400Angstrom pore diameter, 150-500m<2>/g specific surface and 1.3-5.0ml/g pore volume and consists of an irregularly arranged carbon crystallite and sparingly graphitizable carbon. The active carbon is obtained by burning a spent tyre contg. metallic wire at 400-900 deg.C 111 the presence of oxygen, CO2 and steam. The water quality can be controlled by using the active carbon. The active carbon is packed in a pipe, and water is circulated through the pipe and purified.
