摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst excellent in strength and dimensional accuracy and having excellent activity for decomposition and removal of nitrogen oxides by burning a molded body containing praseodymium oxide and a molding assistant. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst consists of a molded body containing praseodymium oxide and a molding assistant or a burnt body obtd. by burning this molded body. The molding assistant is one or more kinds selected from among beta-1,3- glucan, clay minerals, inorg. fibers, cellulose compds., polyvalent hydroxy compds., and polyvinyl polymers. With this catalyst, nitrogen oxides are decomposed and removed without the presence of a reducing agent or in the presence of O2 by bringing the catalyst into contact with nitrogen oxides. The praseodymium oxide compsn. for molding has excellent plastic molding property, and for example, it can be formed in a desired shape by extrusion molding. The molded body is dried, and if necessary, burnt. Thus, the praseodymium oxide molded body or praseodymium oxide molded and burnt body excellent in strength and dimensional accuracy can be obtd.
