<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an aqueous sludge with high solid content in removing SO2 as an aqueous sludge by supplying an amine sulfonate ion expressed by a specific formula to a specific aqueous lime scrubbing medium and contacting the ion with a hot combustion gas in a wet scrubbing unit. CONSTITUTION: An aqueous lime scrubbing medium containing calcium component and about 2,500-10,000 ppm magnesium ions is brought into contact with a hot combustion gas in a wet scrubbing unit. During the process, an effective amount of amine sulfonate ion expressed by formula I (R<1> is H or OH, R<2> is H or SO3 , and R<1> and R<2> not both being H) is supplied to the aqueous lime scrubbing medium in the wet scrubbing unit, a solid component of calcium sulfite is produced and removed from the wet scrubbing unit as an aqueous sludge and the aqueous sludge is dehydrated easily.</p> |
