<p>PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the generation of an underwater vortex in the vicinity of the top part of a vortex preventing device by a method wherein a swirl flow preventing device is arranged in a direction extending from the inlet part of a pump body to the top plane part of the vortex preventing device the bottom of which is formed in a conical shape. CONSTITUTION:In a pump body 2 which is installed in a pump suction tank 1 and to the suction part of which a vortex preventing device 4 with bottom in a conical shape is attached, a swirl flow preventing rod 5 protruded from the suction part of the pump body 2 is attached in the vicinity of the top plane part of the vortex preventing device 4. The swirl flow preventing rod 5 is formed in a columnar shape and attached to, for example, the impeller 6 of the tip part of the rotary body of the pump body 2. The swirl flow preventing rod 5 is extended to the vicinity of the plane part of the top of the vortex preventing device 4 with a bottom in a conical shape where an underwater cortex is generated. By locating the swirl flow preventing rod in the center of a swirl flow, the center of the swirl flow is disturbed by the swirl flow preventing rod 5 to prevent the occurrence of an underwater vortex.</p> |
