PURPOSE: To restrain undesired influence of inhomogeneity and incompatibility, by dividing a plastic melt into defined subquantities, bringing them into contact with a treatment agent, combining individual one of them with portions of other subquantities within a retention time of a specific value, separating some portions from the mixture and combining them with other subquantities, and repeating the separation and combination steps several times at a specific time interval. CONSTITUTION: A plastic melt is placed under a pressure in an extruder, and is introduced into a mixing apparatus having a stator and a rotor. A treatment agent is also introduced. The stator has cavities on its inside surface, and the rotor has cavities on its outside surface, respectively, for accommodating defined subquantities of the plastic melt. While the rotor is rotating in the stator, the cavities of the stator and the rotor overlap in less than one second so that portions of the defined subquantities of the melt mixed with the treatment agent are separated from each of the cavities, are exchanged between the cavities, and the separated portions are transferred to cavities down the stream. A portion from a cavity of the rotor in the overlapping phase passes into a cavity further down the stream, and a portion of the melt in the same quantity is transferred to the cavity of the rotor. Transfer of the melt stops when the overlapping is concluded. |
