The device comprises a table including first part (8) with an upwardly turned flat slide surface provided with outlet apertures and second part (9) with a downwardly turned flat slide surface. The two table parts work in conjunction with one another and fixtures are provided for clamping workpieces and/or tools. A regulator provides a controlled feed of fluid under pressure between the slide surfaces via the outlet apertures. Adjustable clamping components (10-14) work between the table parts and are connected to one another under the first table part. The second table part and the clamping components are clamped sandwich-fashion against the first table part by a friction-creating arrangement from two sides of the first table part. On loosening the first table part and the clamping components, fluid is fed under pressure through the outlet apertures. When the fluid feed is stopped, sliding friction is formed between the first and second table parts. |
