A pulse emitted from a signal source 54 deflects the fluid flow in an inverter 32, from channel 36 in which it was inhibiting NOR gates 24, 26 to channel 34 in which it inhibits NOR gate 30, NOR gate 28 being already inhibited by flow from amplifier 20 in its reset or " 0 " state. Flow from amplifier 22 along channel 42 keeps NOR gate 26 inhibited whilst NOR gate 24 permits flow along channel 41 to change the state of amplifier 20, a pulse then being emitted along output channel 60 to an indicator. When the pulse from the signal source is terminated, flow along channel 36 re-commences, inhibiting both NOR gates 24, 26 but owing to the change of state of amplifier 20, NOR gate 28 is enabled to change amplifier 22, the resultant flow along channel 44 keeping NOR gate 24 inhibited so that, with the next pulse, amplifier 20 is returned to its " 0 " state. The amplifiers, NOR gates and inverter may be such that they are switched from one state to another when the deflecting flow reaches a threshold level, sufficient to overcome the boundary layer effect.</p> |
