PURPOSE: To prevent the resolution deterioration of a still image and the occurrence of flickers in the image at the time of image display on an improved- resolution television receiver by selectively inserting a video signal filter into a video signal processing circuit depending upon the displayed image, whether it is a still image or a dynamic image. CONSTITUTION: An improved-definition television(IDTV) display system 106 is provided with a 2:1 multiplexer 110 which is constituted to selectively by-pass a median filter 104. The multiplexer 110 selects the output of a field store 101 and outputs the output to a 2:1 multiplexer 106B when a still image is to be displayed in accordance with a control input 116 to which different video index codes are supplied depending upon the image to be displayed, whether it is a still image or a dynamic image. With such as arrangement the resolution deterioration of the still image and the occurrence of flickers in the image can be eliminated effectively by using the median filter 104. |
