DUMP ACQUIRING METHOD, CONTROLLER AND INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of dump and to completely dump contents obtained at the start of dumping even when updating is executed during the acquisition of the dump. CONSTITUTION:An updated area in a storage device is managed (a) as a write area. When a dump acquiring range is set up (b), the write area in the range is managed (c) as an area to be protected. When a write instruction is outputted from a processor and an area to be written is an area to be protected, unwritten contents are saved to a dump point file, the contents are written and then the area is excluded (f) from the area to be protected. Dumping only for the contents stored in the area to be protected and the dump point file is executed (g). The dumped protected area and dump point file are deleted. Consequently the quantity of dump can be reduced, and even when updating is executed during the acquisition of dump, the contents obtained at the start of dumping can be completely dumped.
