ELECTRIC CONECTOR AND CONTACT FOR USE THEREIN

PURPOSE: To provide a highly reliable electric connector with a high density and sufficiently high contact holding strength and to provide a contact to be used for the connector. CONSTITUTION: Each contact 10 is an approximately plate like shape and a holding part 11 comprises a projected part 16 formed on one side rim 14 and a recessed part 17 formed transversely on the other side rim 15. Respective contacts 10 are inserted in to a plurality of channels 22 of a housing 21 and flexible parts 24 are formed in the partitioning walls 23 of neighboring channels 22. An electric connector is constituted by fixing the contacts 10 and the housing 21 by bending the flexible parts 24 of the partitioning walls 23 between the neighboring projected parts 16 and recessed parts 17 of the inserted contacts 10.
