PURPOSE: To minimize the disagreement between the speeds of a photoreceptor and intermediate transfer medium. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting and correcting picture transfer smear is provided with a picture carrying member 10 which moves at a first speed along a prescribed route, a means which moves at a second speed and supplies a toner picture 108 developed in a selected pattern to the member 10, a means 100 which detects the pattern of the picture 108 on the member 10 and generates a signal indicating the pattern, and a controller which is connected to the supplying means and adjusts the second speed of the supplying means so that the moving speed of the supplying means can nearly become equal to the first speed of the member 1. |
