In a zig-zag machine the needle bar support 44 is displaced laterally by a fork 26 engaging a cam 25 via a link 39 which is adjustable relative to the fork pivot, to vary the displacement, by a link ,36 pivoted to an arm 37 fixed to an adjusting shaft 38. A crank 16 at the end of the upper shaft 15 is connected to an arm 17 the lower end of which is connected to the needle bar 20. Cam 25 driven from shaft 15 is engaged by fork 26 fixed to a shaft 27. An arcuate guide 28 fixed to one end of shaft 27 engages a slot in the end face 29 of a bushing 30 normally co-axial with the shaft, but displacable by rotating shaft 38. The bushing is joined by a link 39 to a shaft 41 mounted in the frame, and carrying the support 44. Rotation of shaft 38 manually or automatically displaces the bushing so that the link 39 reciprocates the needle support 44. The shaft may be clamped in a set position or set to a desired position and temporarily re-set to zero shift, i.e. straight seam, by the operator during sewing. Heading DIN [Also in Division F2] In an arrangement for driving the shaft 8B of a comb 8 with an oscillatory motion for removing the web from the doffer of a carding engine the end 7A of the output shaft 7 of the control box is hollow and provided with slots 7B so that it can encircle the shaft 8B of the comb and be clamped thereto by a resilient band 16 encircling end 7A and being tightened by a bolt 16A. The ouput shaft 7 and input shaft 6 of the control box are mounted in bearings 4, 5, 10A, 10B, the bearings 10A, 10B being carried in a cover 9 which is removably bolted to the main portion 1A of the control box. To dismantle the control box bolt 16A is released and the cover 9 unbolted and drawn away carrying the shaft 6, 7 and their bearings for further dismantling.</p> |
