PURPOSE:To obtain the good gradation by using the error diffusion processing for a high-speed picture processor. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal inputted from a picture signal input part 101 becomes the corrected signal by an error distribution processor 102 which distributes the error signal generated by the output signal decided before. It is sent to a multivalued processor 103 and is outputted as an output signal after the multilevel processing to become the gradation number decided in advance. The correction signal from the device 102 is compared in the output signal from the multilevel processor 103 and an error arithmetic processor 104 and the error signal is decided. An error diffusion matrix selecting device 105 reads the data of the error diffusion matrix stored in a ROM 106. In this case, the error diffusion matrix is designed that the pixels to which the error is distributed become alternating each other in the next line and the line after next of the noted picture element to that no weighting is provided on the same line as the multivalue processing picture element. |
