PURPOSE: To provide an installation member which compensates the tolerance of the thickness of a substrate and the size of through holes and reliably installs an electric connector in the substrate and to provide a substrate installation type electric connector comprising the installation member. CONSTITUTION: This installation member 10 comprises a main beam part 12, a socket supporting part 14, and a substrate supporting part. The installation member 10 is installed in a slot 50 of an electric connector 2 by fastening and fitting the main beam part 12 in the electric connector and engaging the socket supporting part 14 to a tub 44. The substrate supporting part has a pair of legs 22. The tip ends of the pair of legs 22 are terminated by a common terminal partitioned by a tie bar 35. The leg parts 22 have upper parts 30 projected to the sides in the middle parts and the width of the upper parts is made to be wider than the diameter of the through hole.
