PURPOSE:To provide the image display device which can display an alteration result on a monitor at a high speed when a displayed image is altered. CONSTITUTION:The image display device, equipped with a frame storage means 5 which stores data on an object to be displayed in three dimensions is divided into a storage means 2 for a dynamic object to be altered and a storage means 3 for the static object not to be altered, a frame storage means 5 which stores color data on respective pixels for displaying the image, a Z buffer 6 which stores the Z-directional distance (Z value) from a view point of each pixel to the object, and a plotting means 7 which sets the shortest distance Z value from each pixel to the object in the Z buffer and sets color data on the object given the shortest distance Z value in the frame storage means, is provided with a static Z buffer 10 which holds the Z value of the static object set in the Z buffer 6 by the plotting means 7 and a static frame buffer 8 which holds the color data on the stationary object set in the frame storage means. When an operator alters the dynamic object, the color data and Z value of the static object are read out of the static frame buffer and static Z buffer and reused, so the object after alteration can be displayed on the monitor at a high speed. |
