TELEPHONE NETWORK, COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To provide a system and method for transmitting packetized data representing radio signals to and from cell sites, and to and from destination exchange systems through a high-speed packet network which again packetize the data for higher rate transmission. CONSTITUTION: Each cell site 14, 16, 18, and 20 has an interface which again packetize data from radio signals and transmits the re-packetized data to their destinations. The destinations can be transmission points at switchboards and the re-packetized data are converted into those which can be used by a telephone network.
