<p>PURPOSE: To improve the operational aspect of a satellite communication system by forming a portable device as a terminal for various kinds of vehicles integrated with the satellite communication system. CONSTITUTION: A supporting member for fixing a portable device to an approximate position of the panel of a vehicle is provided on the lower surface of a case member 2 integrated with the epoxy resin main body 1 of the device, and an emergency key 4 and a video screen 5 are provided respectively on the side and top faces of the member 2. The main body 1 incorporates a processor 10, a program memory 11 housed in an FPROM having a capacity of 32 kilobytes, a data memory 12 housing a RAM having a capacity of 32 kilobytes and having a nonvolatile operational option, function keys 4-7, a sensor key 13, an actuation key 14, a display device 16, and a controller 15. Three serial channels are connected to the system and used for the communication by means of the controller 15 of the display device 16, the communication by means of a terminal computer CB, and the communication by means of a transceiver T.</p> |
