PURPOSE:To provide an overheat protector for protecting a liquid crystal display or an electric circuit from overheat cause by heat from a light source. CONSTITUTION:The overheat protective device is for protecting a liquid crystal display 5 from overheat caused by heat from a back light 6. The overheat protective device has a thermistor (rT) for detecting a temperature of the liquid crystal display 5. The power applied to the back light 6 is controlled by a CPU 3 on the basis of the temperature detected by the thermistor (rT) to reduce the voltage applied to the back light 6 through a power circuit 8 when the temperature of the liquid crystal display 5 rises to a given level near a liquid- crystal transition temperature. |
