The shaft (2) impact face (4) is located at its rear end and the shaft is longitudinally slidable in a cylindrical sleeve (6) considerably shorter than the shaft. The sleeve end, facing the centre punch (1) tip (3) is formed as a collet with radially expansible claws (8). The free ends (10) of the claws are shaped as parts of a cylindrical surface on the inside and outside. Pref. a clamping nut (9) for adjustment of the collet claws is located coaxially to the sleeve and can be handled from outside.
