A protective cap (1) has an acceptance section (26) for the coupling region (19) of the light-guide plug (8) when uncoupled. When coupled, the acceptance region (26) accepts a protective component (20) which protects the coupling sleeve (15) in the uncoupled position into which the light-guide plug is inserted in the coupled position. The protective cap (1) is retained in the region of the plug (8) by securing means (2, 3).
