A process is disclosed for producing a zeolith-coated metallic foil, in particular shaped as a honeycomb. A steel foil with a chromium and/or aluminium content is oxidised to form a finely grained aluminium oxide surface layer. A ceramic washcoat that acts as a bonding layer is applied on the oxide layer, and a zeolith layer is applied on the ceramic bonding layer.
