A vertically adjustable sewing machine stand 16 has a drawer 42 mounted upon a rail 32, which is secured to the table top 33 by a bolt 62. The stationary part 48 of a telescopic drawer runner is hooked into notches 43 and 44 in the rail 32 and the movable part 49 is welded on to the side 57 of the drawer 42. Since the drawer 42 is thus supported on only one side, a hemispherical head support 64 carried on a bracket 61, secured to the rail 32, is arranged to abut the drawer beneath the runner and so prevent the drawer from sagging. As the drawer is moved in and out an arm 83 of a latch spring 71, which is secured to the drawer 42, rides along the upper edge 73 of the stationary part 48 and drops into detents 74, 76 formed in the stationary part 48 and thus limits the movement of the drawer. |
