Cylinder block for liquid-cooled IC engine

The cylinder block has a coolant channel between a jacket and the cylinders. A guide fin (10) at the side of the centre of one cylinder is fitted inside the channel so that it divides the coolant flow vertically. The guide fin has two guide members, extending upwards and downwards from their upstream ends, which are in a central position in the vertical dimension of the channels. The guide fin may be V-shaped, with the apexes formed by the upstream ends. Or it may be bow-shaped, with the centres of the bow passing through the upstream ends. The fin may be made in one with the jacket wall, with an intermediate space between the fin and the cylinder wall.
