a disc(2) rotating at high speed by a spindle motor(1); an actuator(4) rotatable on the surface of the disc(2); and a head gimbal(6) with a magnetic head(5), attacted to one end of the actuator(4). An auto-locking arm(9) is protrusively formed at one end of the actuator(4), and a locking hook(15) mounted on a stopper(11) is inserted in the slot(10) formed at the auto-locking arm(9). The hard disc drive is used to an external memory or a storge unit. The actuator of the hard disc drive is locked in position when disc is unpowered. The disc surface is protected from uncontrolled motion of the head contacting and damaging the disc surface during transport and handling.
