<p>A hydraulic leak detecting system adapted to a self-propelled vehicle or machine to detect leaks and alarm. The system includes a reservoir (18), a connecting tube (52) connecting the reservoir (18) to an expansion tank (16). Expansion tank (16) includes a fitting (42) having an elongated tube (56) extending down into the expansion tank (16). A float type fluid level sensor (44) is provided within the expansion tank (16). The float level sensor (44) sends an electronic signal corresponding to the fluid level in the expansion tank (16) to a microcomputer based monitoring unit (70). The monitoring unit (70) also senses the fluid temperature (32). The monitoring unit (70) includes memory (182) for storing a table (190) of fluid temperatures versus fluid level in the expansion tank (16) stored during calibration of the system.</p> |
