The invention relates to a portable hand-held machine, generating a rotary or rotary-and-translation motion, for boring works and the like. According to the invention, the machine is provided with an electric motor (1) placed in a radial handle (20), which ensures, through a double cardan joint (4) and a driving toothed wheel (6), the driving of a driven-geared wheel (7). The wheel (6) is fastened to a central shaft (8) which also holds a helical spring for pressure (13) and a helical spring for stretching (14) actuating a pair of axial cams (11) held on a cross joint (10), respectively. The length of the contact zone, proportionally with the driven length of the tool, is provided by an adjustment member (12), movable along the central shaft (8), having an adjustment nut (15).
