Laboratory animals transplanted with cells, are used to produce immunological products and or cells, preferably antibodies, lymphocytes, macrophages, antibody producing cells, cytotoxic lymphocytes and/or helper lymphocytes and/or parts of one or more from the preceding. The animals are characterized by a distorted immune-system which prevents rejection of the transplanted cells. These transplanted donor cells are administered in a dose that is high enough to induce an in vivo reaction towards the recipient. It is preferred to further enhance this in vivo reaction by administration of growth promoting substances to stimulate the multiplication of the donor cells. The in vivo reaction to the recipient is by preference an inflammation reaction and more specifically a rejection reaction against the recipient. This induces a substantial multiplication of the donor cells, including donor cells that do not interact with the recipient. The procedure is further characterized by the (pre-)exposure of the donor type cells to an immune-inducing factor besides the animal itself. This factor is preferably a substance, or substances and/or tissue and/or cells, a vaccine and/or a virus. In addition it is preferred to induce an immunological response of these donor-type cells. Another application of the procedure is a sensitive test system for one or more immune modulating factors, preferably substances, and/or tissues, cells, a vaccine, a virus and/or an immune suppressive factor. |
