<p>A method of treating sewage sludge is described comprising the steps of placing it in a container (19) with a reclosable opening (20), placing the sludge and container (19) in an autoclave (2) to heat the sludge with steam to kill most of the bacteria in the sludge removing the cleansed sludge in the container (19) from the autoclave (2) and connecting the container opening (20) with at least one vacuum pump to extract moisture from the sludge and store or transport the clean inert sludge to an end user. The invention also extends to a moulded article made of a bio-degradable material comprising waste sewage sludge wherein the structure of the moulded article is sufficiently rigid to carry out its intended function. The article may take the form of e.g., a golf tee (28), a disc (27) for use in clay pigeon shooting, or a building block.</p> |
