<p>The disclosure herein describes a protective sports headgear (10) that comprises a helmet (12), an intermediate adapter (24) fixed to the helmet and a visor shield (14) hingedly connected to the adapter (24) at the opposite side thereof. A pin (64) mounted on the visor shield (14) engages a locking element (40) on the adapter (24), the locking engagement being manually releasable allowing the visor shield (14) to be pivotally lifted over the forehead and the top of the helmet (12). The visor shield (14) also includes an adjustment member (102) enabling various positions of the visor shield (14) relative to the helmet (12). A chin cup (98) is hingedly mounted to the lower part of the visor shield (14).</p> |
