摘要 A weaving machine (1) is driven by a drive device which is powered from an electrical power supply network operating at conventional frequency, e.g. 50-60 Hz. The drive device comprises an asynchronous motor (6) which exhibits or is connected to a motor control (13) for the network. The asynchronous motor drives the weaving machine via a speed-reducing unit (8). The motor control (13) converts the frequency of the electricity network to a substantially higher frequency (15) and thereby procures a substantially higher rotation speed (RPM) of the asynchronous motor compared with a case in which a corresponding conventional asynchronous motor (6') is driven directly at the frequency (14) of the electricity network. The speed-reducing unit (8) is arranged to reduce the said substantially higher rotation speed to the running speed of the weaving machine (RPM').
