[Also in Division B2] An aerosol inhaling apparatus comprises a medicament container 11, a heated container 5 for a diluent for the medicament, atomising nozzles 1, 2 for each container and a passage 7 in which atomised medicament and diluent are mixed prior to inhalation. The medicament container 11 has an antomiser comprising a nozzle 2 through which high pressure gas flows to entrain and atomise liquid medicament through a tube 4 surrounding the nozzle, the atomised medicament being directed against the interior of a cylinder 6 mounted on the tube so that a circular flow path is created. The atomised medicament flows to the inhalation tube 7 through an elongated neck of the container which extends through the diluent container 5. In the diluent container, a second atomising nozzle 1 is supplied with high pressure gas which atomises heated liquid diluent drawn through a tube 3. The atomised diluent is directed by the tube against the cylindrical wall of the container 9 at an acute angle thus creating a circular flow path. The atomised diluent warms the atomised medicament in the tube 7. The diluent container is surrounded by a thermostatically controlled heating element 8. The heating element is surrounded by a jacket 13 through which cool high pressure gas passes on its way to the atomiser in the diluent container.</p> |
