The method is for a channel (1) containing a valve seat ring (3). The casting technique involves two pressure casting cores (6,7) coming to a meeting point (8). To avoid unevenness of the channel surface, the channel is initially forged at below final mass in the region of the meeting point, and then machined with a spherical milling cutter (11). The miller can move in the direction of its axis and also along the desired stretch of the channel, until the channel runs as desired.
