The subject of the invention is a front sole retention device on a ski binding for a ski boot, which has a sole which projects in the front toe region. In this arrangement, this sole retention device has a footboard (1) for providing support from below for the ski boot (St), which footboard is mounted on the ski (Sk) to be pivotable between two end positions about a first pivot axis (2) extending transversely to the lengthwise axis of the ski and parallel to the surface thereof. In addition, an adjustable clamping device (6, 12) is provided in order to exert a clamping pressure on the ski boot (St) placed on the footboard (1) to secure the latter on the footboard (1). In order to increase the forces which can be achieved by means of the clamping device (6, 12) to secure the ski boot (St) on the footboard (1), at least one pressure piece (4) oriented to engage with non-positive and/or positive engagement on the sole (So) of the ski boot (St) is, according to the invention, articulated on the footboard (1), in particular in the manner of a toggle lever, and is coupled to the clamping device (6, 12) in such a manner that the latter tends to bring the pressure piece (4) into contact with the sole (So) of the ski boot (St) simultaneously with the exertion of the clamping pressure on the ski boot (St).
